RE: $140 Interstates vs $175 Trojans

I went from 2 12v to 4 trojan 175s about a year ago. Still happy. At the time a similar thread said Trojans were the way to go. Check both brands websites, I think the Torjans weigh more/ heaver lead plates. Bud

RE: Size Debate for new rv owner

Hey neighbor!, I live in TO and have a 32' A class. Before we bought we checked out the state grounds local to us and found some stated a 32' max. With our rig we can fit into about 20% of the spots at Sicamore and Leo Carillo. When you go just go around and make a list which ones you like and save for next time(We put them in a old style address book). BOOK EARLY they fill fast. A few years ago I found a list on a state website somewhere that gave info of Calif. parks and Max. lengths were included, some with a 32' max. Hope this helps, you feel free to PM us if we can be of any further help. Bud and Julie

RE: How hot does it have to get b4 your aircond's can't keep up?

I was in 116 :E degrees with only a 30 amp hookup so without the genset running I could only run the front AC. With only the front going I got the inside down to 90. I don't have awnings on my windows, only shades. One of the bad things was brushing your teeth with warm/hot water in the am, have some water in the fridge. Bud

RE: How to limit light/heat transmission from skylight in shower

My new Class C has a skylight in the shower. It's an opaque plastic dome type skylight. I don't want to block the light entirely and a cover on the interior is not really a workable option. Does anyone know of any kind of semi-opaque paint that I could apply to the exterior of the dome to limit the light and heat transmission to the interior of the MH? Thanks Martin Use white plastic like the type used to cover ceiling lights in offices. It will dull the light and turn it into dual glaze. Bud

RE: Towing a 1997 Jeep Wrangler

I like my ReadyBrut plus. Click here Tow bar and breaking system togeather. Installing the cables is not hard and after a few adjustmints on the cable length you don't have any more hassel. No setting the Brakebuddy in and out. HINT the arm travels a lot so stsrt with the cable looser than you think. If you are too tight the toad will try to stop the Moho and Jerk forwards and backwards. PM Me if you have any questions. Bud

RE: Merging traffic

I hold my lane and my speed. It is their responsibility to merge in around me. When in a higher traffic area, and when there are 3 lanes, I always move to the middle lane and stay there. That way faster traffic can pass on the left and merging traffic can move in without worrying about me. I agree with both points above, with a toad I am 56 feet long like most of you 5ers. If I slow down or speed up I am now a variable target, buy staying the same most people can make better judgements wither to speed up or slow down. I have slowed down many times to find out they would rather be behind me instead of in front of that BIG MONSTER. I agree with RUSTYS answer above "It's this type of driver that caused me to add a LOUD air horn tomy 1st RV. I also added one to my pick up". NOW DON'T get me wrong! Not to have a lowder horn than them BUT 80% of people merging look for traffic way too late. A QUICK burst wakes them up earlier and gives them time to speed up or lag behind me. Oh Well.. That's my take on it. Bud

Do Moho Ac panels have a seperate "Inverter Bus"?

Hello All! Do Moho Ac power panels have a separate "Inverter Bus"? I saw a wiring drawing on a website showing there was. In other words I would like to hard wire the Inverters 110v power to only the 2 TV/DVD players and Receptacles so my mechanically challenged DW won't try to turn on the ACs or convection microwave. Thanks, Bud

RE: house batts

Thanks for the info. I dont have batts under the stairs. theres no access to under stairs. I looked in hopes to see some batts. I just have 2 in the engine compartment. 1 reg batt and 1 deep cycle. They are seperate cuz i ran the house bat dead till where the gen wouldn't start, but the rig would start. Ill hve to look into the the type of charger it has, but when the gen is on it says its charging the batt on the info gauges. The batts will charge at 12volts with the genset and the alternator puts out 14Vs (varies) when needed. Charges up faster with alternator. MAYBE faster if you run generator AND use an AC batterie charger, don't know if charger would read the power from the converter and think the batts were full. Maybe a pro could answer that one. Bud

RE: Toilet Upgrade

It won't change the size if the seat but I have read you can buy a pedestal for the toilet to raise them up. Not positive what I have but I think that's the one in porcelain. Very nice. Bud

RE: house batts

Are you sure you don't have seperate "House" batteries? Check under the stairs. I would want to keep them seperate lit my rig is so if they are dead you can still start the engine! Bud

RE: house batts

I have 4 6v in my class A and fine for my DW and I for 3 days and 2 nights. Remember if you dont have a 3 stage charger ( most rigs only have a 12v converter) you are better off charging batts by running your engine than the generator.
